This morning I was reminded why I LOVE BEING a Mom!!!
So, the kids didn't have school today, and I very nicely ask that all three of the kids TRY to sleep in, thus giving Mom the opportunity to sleep in as well.
Porter's idea of "sleeping in" is any hour past 6:45 ( this is when I wake him up for school.)So it did not come as a surprise to me , that at 7:00 a.m. I was awakened by my dear little man. What did surprise me is how he woke me up.
Light on in the bathroom, sound of stand up peeing, sounds of him clapping and singing Elvis Presley " Hunka, Hunka, Burning Love.
No this is not how we potty trained him, and heck if I know how my son knows the words to the song, but he does, and he was singing loud and proud this morning. You just gotta love it. Seriously, how many people can say, that they woke up to the sounds of peeing, and Elvis Presley.
Anyway, the kids and I spent the day playing together, and then we hit the movies with Grandma Loveland ( we saw" Hotel for Dogs".) Everyone knows that a movie must be fallowed by ice cream, so a trip was made to D.Q. and all were happy and full.
This weekend Derrick and I had the opportunity to go to 3rd and 13th wards ward conferences. It was wonderful to sit with the good people of the wards and learn from them. I am so thankful that we have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience though the people of our stake. We both came home felling enriched and blessed, but also knowing that we have so much to do, and so much more to learn. ( thanks Judy, for letting the kids sit with you , as we were in our meetings.)
Audra has not been feeling will. We have been keeping a close eye on her. We both feel that she will be fine, but a trip to her heart doctor may be sooner than later.
Brooklyn, is in full swing planning for her birthday. I can't believe she will be 9. She has some great ideas, it will be hard to pick what to do.
Porter, HUNKA,HUNKA,BURNING LOVE. Need I say more?
Hope you all have a great week. Remember that you are loved, and that I am thankful for all you do.
P.S: Pictures of my new dew to come next week.

"Back to Life, Back to Reality"
We had a wonderful Christmas. Small and simple. Nothing to grand, just our style.
Brooklyn did wake us all up at 3:00 a.m. Christmas morning. ( something that has never happened before, and hopefully never happen again) So we saw what Santa brought, opened presents and then it was back to bed for most of us. Porter was up all that day, but crashed the fallowing day. Derrick and I love spending time with the kids, we have fun with them no matter what we are doing. They are such good kids, and we are so blessed to have them.
Derrick and I spent New Years Eve with the Young Men and Young Women in our Stake. We made it home at 3:00 in the morning. Between the dance and Christmas morning our clocks were all mixed up. I think most everyone had a good time. It was nice to get to know the Y.M. presidency and their wives a little better.
We all have new hair cuts and dews, thanks to my sister in law Bee (you are the greatest) For the first time I am wearing my hair straight. " GASP" I have always either had a perm, or put lots of curl in my hair. I love my new hairdo, and color. Brooklyn got hers chopped as well. She has been growing it out, and was so exited that she finally had enough hair to give to Locks of Love.
She looks so cute with her bob. Audra had hers trimmed and thinned (we could have had a wig made out of the hair Bee thinned from her head.) I straightened her hair this last Sunday, and couldn't believe how much older she looked. She said " it can be a Sunday thing, not an everyday thing." Porter had a spill on New Years Eve and got a pretty bad cut on the back of his head. It is closing up, and getting better, but it still looks NASTY!!
The kids had a snow day yesterday, it was fun to have them home. If only I would have known they were out of school, about an hour earlier. We could have all stayed sound asleep. I am grateful that my Mom got a hold of me before I left to take them to school ( we were literally getting into the car when she called)
We hope you all had a joyous Christmas, and a fun time during the holiday break. Please remember that you are loved , and that I am thankful for all that you do.
