What Fun

We had such a fun week this last week. We laughed A LOT and cried a little.

Last Sunday we finally had Brooklyn's last party for her birthday, just a small family and friends gathering. On Saturday we had a party with Derrick's side of the family, because most of them would not be able to attend her party on Sunday. We all went to Golden Corral, and ate way to much. The servers sang to Brooklyn, and she was such a good sport, standing up on the chair and shaking the salt and pepper shakers. Way cute.

Anyway, Derrick and I had talked about going to watch some of the events at the Special Olympics. So, on Wednesday after school the kids and I headed over to pick Derrick up, and then we headed to the Quest Arena to watch figure skating. I need to say that I never thought I would feel such a strong spirit at a sporting event, but WOW!!! I could not help but cry. We watched in amazement as the athletes took the ice, it was incredible, there is no other way to describe it ,INCREDIBLE. We felt so blessed to be in the athletes presence. Knowing that these athletes are some of our Father in Heavens most precious children, was overwhelming. The good will, and love was so strong. It didn't matter what country they were from, the athletes all clapped and yelled encouragement to each other. What a better place this world would be, if we could all be that way. One of the best parts for me came just as we were leaving. As we got to the doors, the ice skaters came out of a side door. We took the opportunity to tell them how well they had done, and thanked them for their hard work. One of the Athletes from the U.S. came and gave me a big hug. I melted!! She thanked me for coming, and supporting them. I told her it was our pleasure. It was just awesome.

The kids had a great time, as we sat in front of the Russian team. We could not understand each other, but it didn't matter, we were laughing, and giving each other high fives.

Thursday, was busy but fun. School, work, dance, and presidency meeting. Derrick surprised me with a movie that night, and it was nice to just hang out, talk .

Friday, we ( Derrick and I) celebrated Valentines early with some of our friends. The food was out of this world, and the company was even better. LOVED IT!! Thanks Laurie and Brent, we had a GREAT time. We haven't laughed that hard sense the Christmas party.
While we were at the party , the kids had were able to attend the closing ceremony of the Special Olympics. They had a great time, and are still talking about it. (Thanks to G&G Legg, for taking them)

Saturday was cleaning day. Yes I am a slave driver. Derrick got the taxes done, and I did the ironing. So the house is clean, we have ironed clothes to wear, and we should have our return in 7 to 10 days.

Sunday's are NOT day's of rest for us. I am not complaining. I am thrilled to be able to serve and help, but it would be nice to get a Sunday nap every once in awhile.
Derrick had a ward conference that morning, so he met the kids and I at church. We rushed home so he could get something to eat before going to his presidency meeting. He met Brooklyn, Porter, and I just as we were leaving our neighborhood to go to the Primary Fireside.
Brooklyn and Porter got to help Grandpa Loveland during his talk. The fireside was about temples and the importance of temples. It was wonderful. The music was great, and the speakers did an awesome job. We rushed home, got some dinner, and I was off to the Stake Center to go though a few things with another member of the presidency.

As a presidency we are working hard to put together our upcoming Stake R.S. birthday program. I pray that the sisters will feel of our love and concern for them. I don't know them all, but I pray for them all. I am learning so much, and am so glad to have this opportunity.

We hope everyone has a wonderful week. Remember that you are loved, that you are a child of God, and he loves you. We are thankful for all that you do.You make a difference in this world.

Our Brooklyn is 9

Yesterday our sweet Brooklyn turned 9. We can't believe how much she has grown, and to be honest I don't like it . I wish she could stay little for longer.
As I was putting together the slide show of her, I broke down and had to cry a few times. She is such a sweet girl, and we are so blessed to have her. I don't know why our Father in Heaven would think of us as good enough parents for her, but I am so glad that he does. She has and continues to bless our lives and all the lives of the people she knows. Her smile and deep brown eyes can melt anyone. When she laughs, you just can't help but to laugh along. She is such a good example of goodness, love, and service.

WE LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!! Happy Birthday our Brooklyn Jean.

On a totally different note: the repairs on the trailer are going well. We spent Saturday afternoon, scrubbing, and cleaning. My Dad has been such a great help. He was able to find the plastic skirting to go around the brunt area, and he and Derrick were able to fix the fence. We will buy the new insulation this week, and hopefully by Saturday, we will have it looking like new.
We hope everyone has a great week.

Remember that you are loved, and that we are so thankful for all you do.

FIRE !!!!!!

We have been truly blessed with the Lords Tender Mercies this past week.
Let me just go though some of the experiences that we have had this week. Monday started well. Nothing to big, the daily joys of being a wife and Mom were in full. I was still fighting off the stomach flu, and my incredible Mom and Dad not only took and picked my kids from school, but also made us some very yummy chicken noodle soup. (1) Thankful to have such great parents. Derrick worked at Target that night. (2) So blessed that he has both of his jobs!! Later on in the evening the people who rent the trailer from us called. The furnace was not working. I made some calls, and was able to get someone to go and check it out the fallowing morning. Fortunately my in laws have some portable (new) heaters, and they lent them to our renters for the night.(3) Thankful to have such wonderful in-laws.

Tuesday, I met the furnace man over at the trailer. He looked around and was not able to find any reason why the furnace would have just shut off. He replaced some of the heating elements, and cleaned out the furnace really good, and all was well.(4) So happy we live in a place where you can call the repair man, and he /she will come.

That night I had the opportunity to go with Brooklyn and one of her friends to the Boise Mall. We had dinner, and went to Build a Bear. (5) So blessed to have our sweet Brooklyn, and so blessed she has such good friends. Derrick took Audra and Porter to 4-H. (6) So happy we have such a GREAT 4-H leader. Carla you ROCK.

Wednesday , I was able to spend most of the morning and afternoon working on R.S. stuff, at the Stake Center. (7) So blessed to work with the sisters in our Stake. I am learning so much , and I feel so honored that I have been given this opportunity.I had the feeling that morning that something may happen with the kids. I made sure that they all had my phone #, and Daddy's, work #,as well as both sets of Grandparents home and cell #'s. They held out until about 2:00 or so, then both Porter and Brooklyn were in the office with bad stomach aches.(8) So grateful to live close to family and friends that help us out so much!!

Grandma Legg came to the rescue and picked the kids up , and brought them home, while I finished my R.S. stuff.
That night Audra had New Beginnings. (9) So grateful to have good Y.W. leaders, that love my Audra. We appreciate all your work and love. Audra and Derrick had a great time at Y.W. (10) So grateful that our kids have such an AWESOME Dad.

So Thursday morning at 2:34 the phone rings, it's the renters again. This time there has been a FIRE at the trailer. They ( the renters) had been at one of their friends houses watching movies, and playing games. They had just gotten into bed, when they heard a popping sound. They got up to see what was going on, when they saw flames though there bedroom window. She ran to the other side of the trailer, and grabbed their son, while he ran out to the side of the trailer and turned on the hose. ( here is a kicker. The hose should NOT have worked. The water line is hocked up to my in-laws water line, and all the outside water had been turned off. Even if that particulate water line had somehow not been turned off, the water should have been frozen, but it wasn't!!! (11) Miracles!!!!!! They were able to get out of the trailer, and he was able to put out the fire before the fire department even got there. (12) Grateful to have a fire department , and the power company. The renters spent the rest of the night safe and sound in a hotel.(13) Grateful for hotels.

Derrick spent a few hours at the trailer with the fire crew , and power company. They were able to figure out what had happened. An animal of some kind had chewed though the wires under the trailer. The wires crossed, and started the fire. One of those weird things that would only happen to the Legg family.(14) Grateful for the few hours of sleep we did get.

Today we started the process of fixing the trailer(15) Grateful we still have a trailer to fix. Derrick met with the electrician, and within a few hours the power was back on (16) Grateful for a good electrician, that my Dad knows. We called the insurance(17) Grateful we have insurance, and they sent an adjuster out to check it out.

(18) Grateful for Musettes!! Today I REALLY needed the power of song. I walked into practice tiered and worried, and walked out still tiered , but laughing, and feeling good about life. THANK YOU LADIES !!! I went over and checked out the damage to the trailer after practice. Scary, but it could have been so much worse. It is fixable, we will have to get new insulation, new skirting to go around the brunt area, and we will have to fix the fence. The siding will need a good wash, to get the smoke off, and we will have to paint a few spots in the inside with a special paint. (19) I know it is crazy, but we are so blessed to be able to have the things that we will need to fix the trailer in stores, that are not to far from our home.

I had a nice long talk with the renters, and they are feeling So blessed. This was and is really scary. When trailers catch fire they can go up in flames in a mater of minutes. (20) Like I said, the Lords tender mercies have been VERY apparent in our lives this week.

So, Brooklyn and Porter are feeling better, we are looking forward to a good nights sleep, and cannot thank our Father in Heaven enough for looking out for us, and our renters.

I just can not come up with words to express our gratitude. There is nothing I can say, that would describe the feeling that we have. Kiss your kids everyday. Make sure your better half, knows you love them, SERVE, and LOVE .

Thank you all for all that you do. Your are loved, and this world would not be the same without you.

P.S. Derrick took some picture of the trailer , I will post them tomorrow.

Wasting Away

We have had a week full of sickness here at our home. Not fun at all. I have become even more grateful for my incredible husband, my awesome kids, and my wonderful parents.

I knew I was going to be in bad shape last Sunday morning. My eyes started freaking out and my fingers going numb. So I doped up on aspirin and kept on going. Way to many things to do, and heck if I was going to let a headache stop me from going to hear the Nelson's speak, and all the wonderful food after, so with 8, yes I said 8 aspirin in my system I was able to make it until about 5:30. I had to take 2 more aspirin to make it to " It's Great to be 8" with Porter.( on a side note, Porter is way exited to turn 8, so he can be baptized, and be a scout.) I made it though the program, and to the car, and went blank.
I don't remember getting home, or anything else about that night. What I do remember , is waking up on Monday, and not being able to see, or feel my hands, and my tongue feeling like a brick. I know I ate something , Derrick got the kids ready, and my Mom took them to school. I don't recall much after that. I do know I took some of my GREAT migraine meds, and had that worm " go to sleep" feeling . Long story short, it took 2 and 1/2 days, for me to start functioning again. Thanks to my awesome husband and kids, parents, and parents in law, things went smooth, while I was in my drug induced sleep.

I must say, I have not had a migraine like that sense Porter was first born. YUCK!!

By Thursday I was feeling back to myself. I am sorry to say, that it didn't last long. By Saturday I was down again, this time with the flu. Brooklyn had had it during the week, and I am guessing that is were I got it. I am so thankful for Pepto, Prilosec, and Imodium. This flu has wiped me out. Poor Audra came down with it on Saturday night, and we spent most of the night up with her. So far Derrick, and Porter have stayed clear of it, but I guess we will just wait and see.

On the up side, Brooklyn will turn 9, this next Sunday. She has planned her parties, and is so exited.
Porter spent this weekend "building." He loves pulling everything out , and building his own cities.
He got the" Golden Eagle" award at school, and has been in 7th heaven sense he got it.
Report cards came out Friday, and all three kids did GREAT !!! I am so happy, and proud of them. They all work so hard, and do their best, and never give up.

Audra is doing O.K. She stayed home today . We are going to start the new glasses, and preparing for braces projects. The braces are going to be a long drawn out thing, but in the end, she will have straight and beautiful teeth.

Derrick was able to referee the young men's basketball games on Thursday, and had a great time. It brought back a lot of memories for him. He is working hard , at both of his jobs, and this last week had to pull more than his share of the weight here at home. I sometimes wonder why in the world he sticks around, but I am so glad that he does.

Our callings are busy, but so rewarding. We are SO thankful for the opportunities to serve. We are grateful for the chance to learn, and grow.

Remember that you are loved, and that we are thankful for all you do.
